Position Overview: 

The Tax Senior delivers high quality tax planning and preparation services in all client engagements, participates in project scheduling, and is an active participant in identifying areas of process and efficiency improvements.  Additionally, the Tax Senior focuses on increasing technical skills, providing tax preparation and/or review, collaborates with teammates in other areas, as well as other ancillary services for the Fleming Advisors team; all while beginning to explore opportunities to assist the firm outside of the traditional tax practice. 

 

Responsibilities: 

  • Preparing and/or performing detailed review of workpapers and tax returns on various federal, state & local tax consulting/compliance engagements. 

  • Conducting research related to various tax matters and business structure.

  • Identifying federal, state & local tax issues and legislation to assist with the compliance and reporting process.

  • Assisting with workflow management on assigned engagements.

  • Effectively follows instruction and meets time budgets and deadlines for assigned areas, projects and overall assignments. 

  • Understands and adheres to client confidentiality standards; demonstrating awareness of firm's risk management policies and procedures, by identifying and referring ethical, independence and conflict issues to manager and/or partner. 

  • Actively seek opportunities to join business development meetings with the goal to build strong relationships and drive new client projects and revenue. 

  • Explore industry specialization and industry focused service. This may include attending peer group meetings or industry organization involvement. 

  • Communicate effectively with the Fleming Advisors tax team striving for open and honest dialogue in all interactions. 

 

Qualifications: 

  • A bachelor’s degree in accounting or related field of study 

  • CPA or EA required

  • 5+ years tax experience  

  • Excellent interpersonal skills

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills 

  • Strong analytical, teamwork and organizational skills

  • Integrity, maturity, dependability, a positive attitude and a strong work ethic

  • PC proficiency, including spreadsheet, word processing and presentation software applications 

  • Analytical skills with high detail orientation 

  • Research and understand professional frameworks, standards and guidance 

  • Knowledge of technology and tools best practices including tax software 

  • Quality control 

  • Risk assessment, analysis and management 

  • Measurement analysis and interpretation
